Course Description:
The Recreation Therapy Program is a theoretical and experiential-based program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and attitide necessary to become recreation therapy practitioners in the future. Here, students will learn to apply different recreational and leisure approaches to promote, maintain, and/or improve the physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual needs of clients with disabilities and/or limitations. What makes this program unique is its focus on adult needs — middle adulthood to old age. Application of general adult and gerontological considerations are therefore evident on the different courses included in the curriculum.
